Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal, an actress/singer who is
extremely talented and versatile in comedy and drama, was a well-known name as
Peg Bundy (Fox series Married... with Children, 1987). During the long run of
the show, she was nominated twice for the American Comedy Award and three
Golden Globes. Peg Bundy's persona was very popular and Katey continued her
career, not only staring in sitcoms but also playing roles that were quite
different from the role that caught her attention. In 2008, she portrayed the
role of Gemma Teller Morrow on Sons of Anarchy (2008). The character was the
mother of a Hell's Angels-esque California biker group. In 2011, her
performance in this role was recognized with a Golden Globe Award as Best
Performance by an Actor in a Television Series-Drama. Catherine Louise Sagal
was born on January 19, 1954, to director and singer Sara Zwilling and noted
television and film director Boris Sagal. When she was five she began her first
show in Los Angeles. She also trained in voice and acting at the California
Institute of the Arts, Valencia, California. While working as a waitress, she
began performing with "The Group With No Name" and later got a break
by joining Gene Simmons' 1970s rock band KISS. While she was there she gained
invaluable experiences as a backup singer for Simmons and other established
stars like Bob Dylan, Olivia Newton-John, Etta James, and Tanya Tucker. In
Bette's avant-garde stage productions in the latter half of the 1970s and into
the early 1980s, she was dynamic in live performances alongside Bette Midler.
